A smooth shipping container delivery is rarely a matter of luck — it comes from matching the right container, the right delivery equipment, and the right site preparation before the truck ever leaves the yard. Use this checklist to get ready.
1. Clear, level ground
Containers sit best on firm, level ground. Compacted gravel, concrete or timber sleepers under the corner castings keep the unit level, dry and easy to open. Avoid soft soil that can sink after rain.
2. Enough room for the truck
We deliver using specialised tilt-tray trucks. As a guide, allow clear straight-line access of roughly twice the container’s length so the driver can tilt and slide the unit into position. Watch for low branches, power lines, gates and soft verges.
3. Plan the orientation
Decide in advance which way the doors should face — repositioning a container after delivery is far harder than getting it right the first time.
4. Be on site
Having someone on site to confirm placement avoids costly call-backs. If access is tight, let us know in advance and we’ll advise on the best delivery method.
